Mr. Marcus Robinson, Educator
Marcus grew up in a tough neighborhood. School was a place where he new he could escape the challenges of the community. His teachers taught him to love learning and to believe that anything is possible.
Marcus has spent his career trying to live up to their example. He has worked with Kindergarten all the way through college. He has been a college recruiter, a middle and high school teacher, a day camp counselor and director, and a school administrator. In 2004, he started The Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School, a Blue Ribbon Award winning high school serving a high poverty population with one hundred percent college placement. His commitment to urban education led him to start five additional Accelerated Schools serving more than 2,000 students. In addition to his work at Tindley, he has been active in helping youth through his fraternity (Kappa Alpha Psi, the 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, as well as serving on the board of the Forest Manor Multi-Service Center.
Marcus is now Managing Partner of The Achievement Collective, an educational management consulting firm that seeks to help urban schools across America grow and be better for all students. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from DePauw University, a Master’s Degree from Butler University, and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University. He is currently in the process of completing his doctoral work at Columbia.
